Question 1

What does Brindlewatch monitor?

Accepted Answer

Brindlewatch monitors three public-domain signals: TLS certificates, DNS records, and security headers. TLS checks look at the certificate presented by the domain. DNS checks save an initial record baseline and compare later observations with it. Security-header checks read the headers returned by the public website response.

Question 2

How often are my domains checked?

Accepted Answer

Active, non-archived domains receive daily TLS, DNS, and security-header checks. An archived domain is not included in the daily monitoring run.

Question 3

Can I run a check now?

Accepted Answer

Yes. From a saved domain, choose Check now to run the TLS, DNS, and security-header checks together. You can also use the DNS-specific control to save the first DNS baseline or run a later DNS comparison.

Question 4

What happens when a probe is unavailable or fails?

Accepted Answer

A probe can be unavailable or fail to complete. In that case, Brindlewatch leaves the result incomplete or records an unavailable/unknown state rather than inventing a finding. You can try the check again later.

Question 5

What is saved with a finding?

Accepted Answer

Saved results include a timestamp, an explanation, and a recommended action. A finding also includes a severity when that check produces one. DNS keeps the original baseline and later observations so a change can be understood in context.

Question 6

How do I review check history?

Accepted Answer

The domain detail view shows history newest first across TLS, DNS, and security-header results. Review markers are separate from check results: marking a finding as reviewed records your review without changing the underlying timestamp, severity, explanation, or recommendation.

Question 7

What can I export to CSV?

Accepted Answer

Signed-in customers can export their own saved domain checks and finding history as CSV. Filter by hostname, check type, severity, and date range; then choose the fields to include, such as timestamps, findings, recommended actions, DNS records, or certificate details. Each export is limited to 10,000 rows and 10 MiB, and it cannot access another customer’s records.
